Who Was Hector Cafferata?

Hector Albert Cafferata, Jr., USMCR (November 4, 1929 - April 12, 2016) was a United States Marine who received the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War.

On July 27, 2023, Dr. Kurtz proudly attended the National Museum of the Marine Corp's ceremony for the U.S. Navy's new ship, The Hector A. Cafferata, Jr. Also attending the ceremony (pictured above) were the granddaughter and great-grandson of Hector Cafferata.
