Action Meeting - June 26, 2024

Recognitions

The Board recognized:

  • David Newlan, Executive Director of Safety, Security & Emergency Management, for receiving PineApple Report’s 2024 Excellence in Education Award for School Safety.
  •  Board Attorney and General Counsel Kathy Dupuy-Bruno for obtaining Board Certification in Education Law from the Florida Bar.


Consent Action Items

The School Board approved:

  • Contracts with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Cape Coral Police Department and Fort Myers Police Department to provide School Resources Officers to our schools.
  •  High school graduation dates of Friday, May 16 to Wednesday, May 21 for Class of 2025 commencement ceremonies.
  •  Job descriptions for Chief Auditor, Regional Associate Superintendent, Executive Director of School Choice and Administration, Director of Student Services, and Director of Business Intelligence.
  •  Employment Contracts with Assistant School Board Attorney’s Rob Dodig, Corris McIntish and Corey Huffman.
  •  Employee reappointments for the 2024-2025 school year.
  •  The Career Pathways Articulation Agreements with Florida SouthWestern State College to provide graduates of Fort Myers Technical College and Cape Coral Technical College potential college transfer credit in related fields of study.
  •  The Articulated Acceleration Plan for College-Level Instruction with Florida Gulf Coast University to enhance learning opportunities for eligible students with the opportunity to take specified college level courses in lieu of standard curricular courses.
  •  The Articulated Acceleration Plan for College-Level Instruction for the Bonita Springs High School and Gateway High School Collegiate Academy Programs with Florida Gulf Coast University.
  •  The Articulated Acceleration Plan with Florida SouthWestern State College to enhance learning opportunities for eligible students with the opportunity to take specified college level courses in lieu of standard curricular courses.
  •  Funding to purchase Marching Band Uniforms for two high schools each year. This year Estero and Riverdale will receive new uniforms.
  •  Funding for specialty diet food products including a variety of foods that are gluten-free, dairy-free and nut free to continue serving students with food allergies.
  •  Phase I Pre-Construction Budget Estimate for "M" Elementary School on State Road 82 for expenses related to Architects, Civil Engineering, Building Official and Construction Manager fees for pre-construction services, inspections and testing, permitting, legal counsel, advertising, surveys and utilities.
  •  Funding for electrical improvements including switchgear upgrades, electrical panels and lighting at 25 schools.
  •  The Annual Fire Safety, Casualty Safety and Sanitation Inspections for the FY24 school year as required by the State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).
  •  The Master Service Agreement and Statement of Work with Language Line Services, for linguistic interpretation and/or translation services.
  •  Funding for athletic officials to referee Football, Baseball, Basketball, Lacrosse, Softball, Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball and Wrestling.
