Environment Education

At Cafferata K-8, every student is an environmental learner. From Pre-K through 5th grade, we bring Florida's natural world into the classroom and take our students out into it. Through Everglades lessons, outdoor exploration, and field trips that connect to what students are studying, we make sure that understanding and caring for our environment is part of every child's education here.

What learning looks like here:

Outdoor Classrooms :Our school garden and campus grounds serve as living laboratories where students plant, observe, and explore Florida's natural environment every day

Everglades Literacy :Each grade level participates in three Everglades Literacy Toolkit lessons annually, developing a deep understanding of Florida's ecosystems, native species, water systems, and conservation practices

Interactive Field Trips :Every grade level participates in a field experience at a local Florida environment, including working farms, wildlife refuges, marine museums, and university programs, each purposefully aligned to grade-level curriculum.

Speakers & Community Partners:Throughout the year, students engage with scientists, conservationists, and environmental educators who bring real-world expertise and a shared commitment to protecting Florida's natural world
